Peter Behrman is named New Executive Director of The BJCTA

Peter Behrman is the Executive Director for the Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority. Mr. Behrman is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. 
Behrman began his career as a bus driver in Los Angeles and has worked at other transit systems around the country, such as New Mexico that was similar in size to the population of Birmingham.
The new executive director comes with a great amount of experience having worked most recently as:
Assistant General Manager of Planning and Development for the Port Authority of Allegheny County, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Director of Transportation for Veolia Transportation in Las Vegas, Nevada
Director of the City of Albuquerque Transit Department in Albuquerque, New Mexico
General Manager of Laredo Metro, Inc. in Laredo, Texas
Director of Operations of Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission in Woodbridge, Virginia
Chief-Bus Operations and Planning at Fairfax County Office of Transportation in Fairfax, Virginia
General Manager at Laidlaw Transit, Inc., Van Nuys, California
Program Manager-Consulting Service for Cities & Transit Systems at Southern California Association of Governments, Los Angeles, California
Behrman said I will dedicate myself to making us one of the best transit systems in the country, it is possible for the city of Birmingham
Behrman is ready and willing to assist the board in its efforts to promote the transit system and its role in improving the regions quality of life.
